Hi, I am using OBIEE 12 c.

I made a pivot table and column headings are vertical due to a large number of columns. I used CSS to do that (Writing-mode: tb-rl; filter: flipv fliph;).

It works fine on a Dashboard but when i export it to Excel columns are horizontal again.

Is there a solution to this problem?

  • Hi,

Export to Excel can't translate custom CSS just because there is too much that can be done with CSS which can't be translated into Excel.

So when exporting to Excel custom "browser" effects like your CSS or Javascript isn't exported as the tool has no idea of what to do with it.

Ok, is there a workaround then, maybe some other way to achive my goal??

Do you have any suggestions  how I can  export my analysis and keep my column headings vertical?

    Regards, Matija.

Why export?  The intent of OBIEE is on-screen interaction with data and decision/action at that point - sounds like you have a goal/requirement that isn't aligned with the purpose of the tool.

Could not agree more, but this is the requirement, !

  • Don't forget SmartView ....

Being into Excel it gives you more Excel options.

I will sure recomend that as a solution, by this far i found that it is impossible to achieve what i want through OBIEE.

    Hope I am wrong.

    Don't think you are ...

The fact you had to use CSS to get it on screen is a good indicator that you can't do it in the export ...

I disagree somewhat - it is a request of the tool ... for it to have become a requirement of the tool whomever was vetting wishes didn't know the capabilities and intent of the tool.  Another tool is needed ... best bet is dump from database OR live connected excel sheet.  Both represent data governance risks that need to be clearly defined and accepted.

Exactly! "This is the requirement" most of the time just means that nobody ever questioned anything.
