Unable to import oracle db metadata in OBIEE Admin tool

Question

When I try to import metadata, I am unable to connect to the (eBS Vision) database. I did update my tnsnames.ora in Oracle_home/network/admin  and can connect to the db using sql developer. I can connect to the db if I use the fully qualified "(DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS =..." string  in the metadata OCI description field. However, I cannot just connect if I use the tnsname field. I did update the Oracle_home path in the windows machine's environment variables.

Any help would be appreciated.

You haven't said which version of OBIEE you're using. It sounds like you're not pointing to the correct tnsnames.ora file. Check article below and ensure you have a tnsnames.ora file in the right location.
