Dedicated Database server for OBIEE 12c

Hello Gurus,
I would require your inputs on the below approach.
We are planning to install OBIEE on Linux server. To install RCU for OBIEE we would require a database. The customer has suggested install a database in the Same sever where obiee is going to install. I recommend to the client use an existing database that was used for ETL.
Does it good practice, if we install a dedicate Database server for obiee (just for OBIEE schemas)?
My strong recommendation that no need for a dedicated database server just for OBIEE schema rather we can use the ETL database.
Can you please leave your comments on this recommendation?
Thanks,
RR

As you mentioned, you just need a DB where you can create your RCU schemas. Installing on the same server as OBIEE would mean that you’d be sharing resources with OBIEE itself. In theory, you may encounter degradation of service if for any reason there’s a heavy load on the RCU database.
For that reason alone, installing the RCU on a different server would avoid this scenario. However, if there’s a heavy load on your ETL database, this could in turn impact your OBIEE instance.
it would be a case of establishing which of these 2 scenarios is less likely to occur or you can install your RCU schemas on a stand-alone dedicated database.

Thanks, Joel for your prompt response.
I agreed with you If we install a database for OBIEE purpose does it good practice?
In ETL database is having a backup and recovery plan. if we install a database for OBIEE RCU purpose, again we have to pay addition cost to maintain database and backup recovery. If we intall the OBIEE database dedicated server and it contains only OBIEE RCU schemas nothing else. Just to maintain this small piece of storage does it really required to dedicate database server? I am confusing here,
In addition, anyhow obiee has to be point ETL database to fetch data for reports.
Hope you understand my concerns here.
Thanks
