Migration from OBIEE 12c to OAS 5.5
I cannot find documentation describing how to migrate an OBIEE 12c environment to OAS 5.5. There are instructions for migrating from OBIEE 11g to OAS 5.5, however, those procedures result in errors when I attempt to perform them in the OBIEE 12c environment. There are instructions for migrating to OAC, but I need to migrate to the on-premises version OAS 5.5. The migration to OAC does not appear to apply here. Regarding my attempt to migrated using the bi-migration-tool.jar; I successfully create the bi-migration-tool.jar file on the OAS 5.5 server by running the bi-migration-tool.sh. I then copy the bi-mgiration-tool.jar to my OBIEE 12c server and attempt to run the export. When I do, I encounter error "SEVERE Migration action failed: Not a directory: /opt/oracle/Middleware/modules". It seems that no matter what I specify in the parameters for the BI_HOME and the DOMAIN_HOME, it results in that same error. Should I be able to use the bi-migration-tool.jar to migrate from OBIEE 12c to OAS 5.5 or is there yet another procedure to perform this migration? Both the old and new environments are LINUX servers.
Thanks,
Joe

Didn't you find the official doc? https://docs.oracle.com/en/middleware/bi/analytics-server/migrate-upgrade-oas/index.html
You mention OBIEE 12c, which doesn't mean much as there are many versions of 12c.
The doc is explicit: upgrade to 12.2.1.4 and from there to OAS with an in-place upgrade which will bring with it all the settings including security etc.
Otherwise you can do just like moving to OAC: export a BAR from your 12c and import it into OAS, but you have to fully redo the weblogic config.
There are many ways to upgrade between "12c" and OAS.

GIanni,
I'm attempting to migrate from OBIEE 12.2.1.4 to OAS 5.5, The OAS 5.5 environment is a new server. I did not want to perform an upgrade to the existing OBIEE 12.2.1.4 environment, because it is an active development server. I began researching the BAR path, but know little about it, since I don't and can't use OAC. I'm in a closed environment. Any hints or tips that you can provide regarding exporting/importing BAR files would be greatly appreciated. I only read how to import a BAR using OAC. I wasn't able to find the equivalent Weblogic Administration console options in OAS.

You don't need to touch OAC at all, it's just exactly the same process (as OAS is "almost" OAC but on premises).
In OAS you login in DV, go in the main menu and open the Console, from there you have the Snapshots page where you can upload your BAR of 12c.
It isn't at all into Weblogic, it's into the tool itself (because in cloud you don't have access to Weblogic, so they moved things in a Console page inside DV itself).
To create the BAR in your 12c look at https://docs.oracle.com/middleware/bi12214/biee/BIESG/GUID-7FCD90A3-E005-49BF-902F-30FBF9B41B07.htm#GUID-D74741C6-D069-4… and "export_service_instance".

I'll give that a look. At this point I'm not sure what the migration will buy me. I already have my security imported into the new OAS server. The presentation should be easy by just archiving/unarchiving. I have some config settings that I don't want to lose, but they are documented well. My biggest issue is the repository. There, I am interfacing with newer releases of Essbase, Postgres, and Oracle databases....Hate to have to recreate those!
Thanks,
Joe

Why would you? I mean "recreate those"? What do you see as an issue there? You can shove any 12c RPD into OAS and it will work.
And also regarding moving stuff around: There's still all the command lines. I never user BAR unless I want to move everything. I use OBIS and OBIPS command lines.
