OBIEE link on left menu only works with IE, not Firefox or Chrome

Hi,
As described at : OBIEE 11g - Adding Custom Links With Icons - Red Stack Tech
we created some links in the left menu.
Our problem is that when this link target is a Windows folder, it only opens up with IE.
When we use Firefox or Chrome, nothing happens, the folder window doesn't show up.
Any idea why?
Thanks

Hi,
This isn't an OBIEE issue or related topic.
It's the browsers limiting that kind of local access for security reasons.
If you google for that you find details on the why and some possible options and workaround.
But it's not because the link is in OBIEE: any page with local folder links will not work in Firefox or Chrome out of the box.

You need to check Flash version should be 11.9.900.170 or more.
use this link to check browser flash version.
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html
May be I'm wrong! check it once just in case

We have the latest version : 20.0.0.286.
We're just trying to find a way to make some help documentation available to users when they're logged in OBIEE.
Thanks

Some times IE does favor and things works
if you share your code that helps to look at it.
any error message from chrome/ff ?

The least painful way would be to make those help documentation available via OHS and change the links to point to the OHS URL.
