OAC/OAS Tile visual should allow additional context and content similar to OAX cards
Organization Name
HSBC Plc
Description
The Oracle Analytics for Applications (OAX) service comes with Exec Focus dashboards (with "cards" showing KPI metrics) - these would appeal to all customers, especially users of BI Dashboards as this type of capability is often requested but complex to deliver in BI Dashboards.
Please can Oracle provide Exec Focus for OAC/OAS customers not just OAX.
Use Case and Business Need
For customers/users of BI Dashboards this would be a super enhancement especially as there are seemingly no other significant enhancements on the roadmap for BI Dashboards.

Totally agree.

This is a Key Feature, please provide this in OAS and OAC.

Having this enhanced facility from OAX would be a great step forward.

Antony, can you break it down to me? Is the ask for a visual that combines a metric performance tile with a trend (or other) viz below it? Is it the ability to layout the viz's as a deck? something else? I'm trying to understand the specifics of the request.

Hi Gaby, thanks for asking. In this request, we are asking for the KPI Deck/Card interface to be made available on the OAC/OAS platforms as a standard component, rather than just being available for OAX customers.
Customers often want KPI-style visualisations, and whilst this may sound a simple/obvious request KPIs are actually tough to deliver because of the number of requirements for each KPI (thresholds, targets, layout, % differences, up/down arrows, high/med/low ranges, interactivity etc). KPIs therefore are large/complex task to deliver.
So the KPI Deck/Card component would be a great step forward in overcoming this issue.
p.s. the request to provide a card interface for DV has been raised in another idea :-)

Please see the mock-up for more idea, We would like to have a Visualization which can be quickly configured as a card.

It might not be that quick today, but still possible. In a few months, you will have the ability to add sparkcharts to OAC tiles, and more improvements will come later. For now, you can do it like that.
Please note that I changed the title to indicate what is specifically planned.

Hey Gabby, thanks a lot for the info - sounds positive. Please can you clarify how we can achieve this in today's product - is it a case of building up the titles, KPIs and graphs in separate visuals and then arranging it so it looks like a single card? Sorry if I am missing something.....

It is not a single visual, basically a tile and a graph below it. We are looking at ways to make sure it is easy to construct something like that (it is not hard, but time-consuming).
BTW, OAX Cards are also not a single visual, it is constructed in a similar way using OAC, it is just that you cannot interact with the pieces (similar to what a BI Consumer will see - which is what an OAX user really is). As it relates to timing, keep in mind that the platform supposed to provide flexibility that a curated App does not. We will not introduce curated concepts that will feel foreign within the platform. Making something specific for one purpose is much quicker compared to making something generic.

I'll keep it up there for a week or so.

Having these would be of great benefit to us as well. KPI cards are what our executives essentially are looking for and expect to see.

Hi Gabby,
When do we expect to have these new functions OAS/OAC tiles?

Depending on what exactly, there are multiple enhancements related to this one. As an example, sparkchart is done, additional metrics will come next, and a more complex layout will follow. We will communicate content in our periodic release/roadmap calls.

Hi Gabby,
Any news on additional metrics/layouts on OAS/OAC tiles?
As a workaround, we have been overlapping visuals to show different measures, but we lose this workaround when viewing DV projects on mobile devices where visuals are shown separately.

It is currently being worked on. I do not have a final ETA, but mid this year is the best estimate. I'll post more details in a couple of weeks as we make some more progress.
As for Mobile, I know what you mean. I use the same method, but with Free Form, the mobile web experience rearranges the 'component'. I usually just set it up to show me the desktop view. Finding a solution is an active task for the mobile team.

Hi Gabby, following up with you as we are approaching mid year. Do you have any further updates on these additional layout updates on OAS/C tiles?

@Gabby Rubin-Oracle , do you have updates to share regarding this idea?
0 -
The initial work that was stated for last year was the introduction of Sparkchart into the Performance Tile viz. This was delivered last year. The next step is the introduction of a Tile section to the grammar of every viz, this is currently planned for 2H 2022. There is an additional related project to allow secondary values for Tiles, we expect it to be delivered on the same timeline.

@Gabby Rubin-Oracle, could you share the features/functions included in the updates you mentioned - Tile section to the grammar of every viz & allow for secondary values for Tiles? Verizon has several ideas regarding performance tiles and improvement ideas of existing Sparkchart in Performance tile viz, but wanted to see first if these are already cared for in the projects/developments you are referencing. Thank you!

Hi Angel,
We went on a different route. Adding bells and whistles to Sparkcharts might had ended up in an overly complex component. Instead, we decided that adding a Tile section to any viz would be a better route. It will basically allow you to create a Tile from any viz type with all the capabilities of that specific viz type. We will have more details to share shortly as it is getting close to its release. Feel free to send any specific questions you might have about this functionality.
Thanks,
Gabby
