Need: Ability to script an automatic process that takes snapshot, downloads it, and deletes archived snapshots older than x days.

Besides, snapshots should contain really everything.
Everything that is needed to rebuild an instance.

Including a Schedule option through snapshot console web page in this case will be welcome too!

It will be very useful to Administrators on managing snapshots and restore points.

For example, I could choose to take a snapshot every day, or every week, or every month, or every year, and so on...

Pretty much every customer should have have an ability to automatically back up and recover OAC in the event of an outage or DR. Per the service descriptions, the customer is responsible for this. Yet, it's a manual task. Right now, the method where a user needs to manually take a snapshot every day or once a week is far from ideal.

Just echoing other comments, several clients have asked for this feature and this will help to fully automate the migration process between environments.

As an ISV and Oracle Partner, Flexagon provides a DevOps platform (FlexDeploy) for automating and managing software and infrastructure across enterprise environments. FlexDeploy includes out of the box support for many Oracle cloud and on-prem technologies including Infrastructure, Database, Middleware, and Applications. In the cloud, that means faster and more effective consumption of services and higher renewal rates. We currently have out of the box support for Oracle BI and analytics products/services including OBIEE, OTBI, and OAS and are seeing significant market demand for out of the box support for the Oracle Analytics Cloud. Our customers report a growing number of instances, lack of visibility and control, and lack of a cohesive and automated pipeline to manage OAC and other technologies across their cloud and on-prem footprint. FlexDeploy provides that solution for many products, but unfortunately without APIs our hands are tied for OAC.

The highest priority APIs required to provide an initial solution for OAC are:

    • Create Snapshot
    • Download Snapshot
    • Upload Snapshot
    • Restore Snapshot

It would be mutually beneficial for Oracle, Flexagon, and our customers and partners to bring this solution to the market. Please consider this a high priority enhancement request as the market demand from customers and partners is significant.

Having an API or a way to schedule this is very important. This way we can keep regular backups of things in OAC.

We are looking for this automation feature.  In fact I was about to create an IdeaLab for the same.

Glad I see lot of requests.

Any idea what would take for OAC team to given some updates when this will be available (tentative).

    Thanks,

    Ranga.
