Oracle DVD 12.2.3.0.0 - OBIEE 12.2.1.2.0 - Visual Analyzer - Export Import

Content

Hello,

I have OBIEE 12.2.1.2.0 in Oracle Linux 7.3 (Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.3 (Maipo) ) , I have checked in the OBIEE12.2.1.2.0 certification matrix and this is supported.

The installation was clean without any issue.

I have created a very simple DVD Project on DVD 12.2.3.0.0 (Windows) What I mean by simple? I just have a excel file with 7 rows as a Data Source (for doing a proof concept) and only one chart without any advanced property (without R scripts, without any formatting), I exported the project (dva) with data and credentials, assigning a password.

I have implemented the Oracle Note ( OBIEE 12c: How To Enable Data Visualization [ .dva ] Export| Import functionality (Doc ID 2216712.1) ) in order to enable the import option for dva project, until then everything is OK.

When I import the .dva file into Visual Analyzer, everything is OK, and the DVD project was imported very successfully (but it wasnt, the VA lies me).

Till then, I can check the data source excel file in VA.

But the problem comes up when I open the VA Project, it shows me the message "failed to load project for specified path".

I did some research, to see what is going on with this issue?

So I have replicated my project, in other words, I re-built the chart from VA based in the DATA SOURCE (Excel File - that was imported by the dva file), in order to compare what is the different between  these 2 projects (  Imported VA project(inventoryturnoracle) &  the VA Project (inventoryturnoracle_va)  ).

Checking the project created from VA, I can realize that I have two files (_projectdefn and _projectdefn.atr) this both files have the definition of the Data Source,  chart and columns, such as, MONTH.. TURNOVER, etc.. in other words, the definition of the VA Project

However, If i see in the another VA Project (VA Project that was created from the import process), I dont have this two definition files.

I have tried to see in Oracle Support Notes and I can not found the root of cause of this. I have checked the sawlog0.log , biserver_1.log and admin_server.log to see any clue about it, but dont have luck.

Whats more?

- I set the ownership for Imported VA Project .

- Both projects are in the "/Shared Folder/test" folder as you can see in the screenshoots that I provide you.

- I havent applied any patch bundle to my OBIEE12c.

Can anyone help me?

PD: I have developed some KPIs for my company and I want to shared in the VA Analyzer, for providing all this information to end users.

And I dont want to have to shared the .dva for each user which are very very dummy solution.

Regards,

Hi Adam, such a mess. I will log it.  some1 who are getting the same issue they can check in  (OTN Note - Oracle Data Visualization Desktop Downloads  ) .  I will return to here, if there is a solution or work around. Thanks .

  • If you have a fully-licensed DV on-prem and DV Desktop you should log an SR.

However, you should be aware of the note on OTN: Upgrading your Oracle Data Visualization Desktop to version 12.2.3.0.0 will mean that new project exports will be incompatible with earlier versions of Oracle Data Visualization both on premises and in the cloud. Therefore you are advised not to upgrade your Data Visualization Desktop until those deployments have also been updated.
