Need guidance on how to share OTBI templates with other internal users

Content

Hi all!

I am new to Fusion and OTBI.  I have searched Oracle Support and the Library, but can't seem to find an answer to this issue we're having.

I have created an analysis in OTBI that we would like to share with other internal users.  I have currently saved it in My Folders of OTBI.  I have tried saving it to the Shared Folder, but I am denied access.

I assume this relates to security and that I need to have a particular security role added to my profile.  Is anyone aware of which particular role I require in order to have access to save to the Shared Folder?  Or is it something else entirely?

Appreciate any help you can provide.

Thanks!

Lisa

    Hi Lisa,

You need to have the Administrators role. It will allow you to do it.

    Thanks,

    Thanks Gautam.

I don't suppose you know the exact name of the role?  "____ Administrator"?  There are so many options.

Does this mean that the general HR user are unable to share templates among themselves?

    Hi Lisa ,

As you can see the name of the role is ADMINISTRATORS. I don't use the HCM application , I use SALES CLOUD , however I know it very well that OTBI is same for every application. You just need to map the role properly.

    Thanks,

     Gautam

    Hi Lisa,

You should be able to save the reports/analysis in Customer folder under shared. That's the only folder that users can save reports to other than My Folder.

    Thanks

    Hi Venu,

FYI , I have saved my analysis wherever i wanted to save. There is no such rule.

    Thanks,

    Hi Venu,

That worked!  Thank you.  I'll have to dig deeper to see if there is an additional role required, but for the time being, I am able to post to the Custom folder.

    Thanks everyone!

    Lisa,

If you save the reports under shared folders other than custom by getting an admin role, those reports can not be preserved during upgrades and will be over written. the only folder that is preserved during upgrades is the custom folder under shared.

    Hope this helps.

    BI Administrator

    BI Author and

BI Consumer are the three roles

They have spate options Read Write and Full Control to be chosen.

Additinally you should always archive the Reports you create so that you have a local copy even if it is lost in upgrade you can unarchive and start working/using

    Thanks

    Hi there,

I have created an otbi analysis using direct database query and I want to create a dashboard prompt after adding it to the dashboard. But a dashboard prompt requires a subject area to be selected. Since the analysis is created from query, a particular subject area cannot be selected. That's why I am unable to create the dashboard prompt. Please help.
