Unable to introduce new line within an excel cell

Content

I am from Oracle Service Cloud (OSvC). We are using BI Publisher in our product to export data in various formats (We have XSL and XML). Our data is in a tabular format with multiple rows and columns. There are line breaks within data in most of the cells. When we export this data to excel, these line breaks are appearing as new rows. But we expect new line within the same cell. This causes the number of rows in excel to increase to a very large value.

Is there any way to introduce line breaks within excel cell?

Thanks,

Pribin

Any update on this? It would be really helpful for us if somebody can confirm whether this works or not?

  • Hi Pribin,

This is expected behavior when generating the output in Excel file. carriage returns/new paragraphs will affect the output.

These control character can be eliminated in SQL data set under data model.

Or you can also try Excel (html) output as this output type ignores the control characters.

    Hope this will help you.

    Hi Sandeep,

Excel HTML output also doesn't seem to be working for us. Do you have any other inputs?

    Hello Sandeep,

We are also facing same issue, and we have data where we need print product list in cell one after other. But because of new line excel creates new rows and customer is does not want.

Because it will difficult for them to filter the values.

    Can you please assist here.

    Thanks,

    Sarika
