Save custom column (formula) to the Subject Area for reuse

Use Case and Business Need

Is there a way to save a formula to the subject Area/Catalog? to be used in other formulas?
so that the field value is simply whatever the column is named vs the formula used?
Example:
SL Summary is: CASE WHEN "Requisition Job Field"."Job Field Level1 Name" = 'Internal Services' THEN 'ICS' ELSE "Requisition Job Field"."Job Field Level1 Name" END
We would like to only Show SL Summary so that when building additional calculations it would only display SL Summary in the formula bar.....does that make sense? Is this possible?

    Have you already tried saving the column (formula) by selecting the gear, and choosing "Save Column As"? This will allow you to place in catalog folders and re-use the object.
