External data sources support in Fusion Application BI Publisher

Organization Name
Willis Towers Watson
Description
In order to invoke webservice from SAAS to OIC we can configure it as external data source , this feature is currently available and would be deprecated in future release as per .
We want this feature to continue as it gives flexibility to connect SAAS to PAAS service mainly SOAP services in OIC.
Use Case and Business Need
We have ESS jobs which are scheduled in SAAS ,these trigger services in OIC through the external data source approach hence with one ERP scheduler we can manage end to end flow as against alternately managing 2 schedulers at either ends and trying to sync them,

We also use this solution to call OIC web services. Since there is currently no other solution to be able to call a WS from EPR I am really shocked that this option will be removed. It should be kept at least until there is an alternative..

Total agree the function should be continue until it can provide alternative solution.

@Matteo Zampaglione As per the documentation https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/otbi/otbi-pub-admin/data-source-connections.html, it looks like the restriction is only with JDBC and JDNI connection. So, I think we should be able to call webservice to trigger OIC integration.
