Convert a date/time to the user preferred time zone using the current SESSION TIME ZONE (SQL query |
Organization Name
NATURA COSMETICOS S/A
Description
Allow handling user-preferred time zone on the data model level.
According to the SR: "SR 3-24102840201: Unable to convert dates and time to user-preferred time zone using SESSIONTIMEZONE", the handle of timezones on data model level is possible using specific time zone codes like 'AMERICA / SAO_PAULO' but not dynamically using the user session preferred time zone. The command SESSIONTIMEZONE only returns UTC and not the user preferred time zone configured.
Note that this procedure is cited in the Oracle whitepaper "Working with Time Zone in Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher", which seems to be outdated.
Use Case and Business Need
The handling of time zone only on the template level is not a feasible way to work with Excel templates (.XLS).

How about using XDO_USER_TIMEZONE like this?
FROM_TZ(CAST(xxxx AS xxxx),DBTIMEZONE) AT TIME ZONE (:XDO_USER_TIMEZONE)
