After migration from 12c to OAS, Customized home page is not working as expected in OAS.

Hi Team,

We have recently migrated the BI reports from obiee12c to OAS. we have custom home page in 12c like logo, company name and report name text in bold.

But in OAS home page it is not showing exactly as OBIEE12c home page, there was a difference in custom home page. we have deployed the same script in OAS also. Logo is appearing.

Remaining options like Font is very small and bold option for the report name is not appearing in OAS as 12c page. Please let me know if any solution for this.

Hi @User_DCJG6 ,

While the concept of customization is still the same, and depending on what your custom style was like it just works without changes between 12c and OAS, there can be changes in the pages structures making your custom style CSS selectors miss the target.

As Federico said, use the browser develop tool to identify what pieces should have a style but don't have it, and check in your custom style/skin to see if the selector has to be adapted or if you are facing an issue in how the custom style/skin are applied. I'm also quite sure you did try by deleting the browser's cache (because CSS are generally cached as they aren't meant to change at every request).

Hopefully you just need to slightly adjust your custom style/skin and you are good to go for another 2-3 years.

OAS still has Alta, it is, or will be from next release, the only default style available with Redwood (all the Fusion and other styles will be removed, can't remember if I did read that for the OAS 2024 release or it's already the case in 2023). Therefore having a style based on Alta should still be a quite safe starting point on which to work to fix your current issues.

This is expected. Styles, skins and themes are different in OAS compared to OBIEE, and you may have to update your custom rules.

Taking a step back before jumping from previous replies...

How is your environment customized? Is it a custom style/skin that you migrated from 12c to OAS? What OAS version? Is your custom style/skin a full one or one based on another one? And in that case, what style is it based on?

Well ... tell us more about how you did things and you will get a better reply at what to look into ;-)

Hi Gianni,

Yes, it is custom style/skin. Current OAS version is March 2023 (7.1)

it is full one having all client required skins/styles and page alignments.

it is based on the Alta; Hope I have answered your questions.

we just migrated the same custom files and images into OAS server from 12c, and instanceconfig.xml file also we have same names defined.

In OAS home page we are able to see all the logo and styles, but page alignment and logo size is small.

please find the attached screenshot for the same for your references.

@User_DCJG6 Have you deployed your bicustom.ear (where you should define your custom style/skin as per documentation: https://docs.oracle.com/en/middleware/bi/analytics-server/administer-oas/customize-user-interface.html on your OAS environment ? We are using custom style/skin on OAS since we migrated from OBIEE 12c (it was for first OAS release 5.5) and since then it is working like charm - we are currently on OAS 2023/7.0. Hopefully this functionality will be still supported on future release, since there is no adequate replacement for it, offering you such flexbility in adjusting analytics UI. Themes are "kids toy" and there isn't anything better yet.

I would use Developer Tools in Chrome (or an equivalent alternative) to select an element which is not behaving as expected (e.g. the dashboard name), and review the actual style rules related to it.

As I already wrote, OAS and OBIEE are different. Even if you are applying the same style (Alta), it doesn't mean that they have been implemented in the same way. In OAS, the name is the same, but the style could be based on a different base-one, or contain different style rules in its css files. You have to review all your custom rules, and eventually review them.

You read it correctly. The deprecation was noticed in OAS 2023, the desupport in OAS 2024
