User Friendly Filter Deselection

Organization Name (Required - If you are an Oracle Partner, please provide the organization you are logging the idea on behalf of):
Description (Required): Currently, it is not very user friendly to reset a canvas to its default view when you enable the "use as a filter" option and drill into a data point. The canvas will filter by the data point that was drilled into but it is not clear how to reset the drill so the canvas can be return to its pre-drill state.
Use Case and Business Need (Required): We need to be able to undo the drill and reset the canvas. It is not effective to continually refresh the page or deselect the "use as a filter" option (this will restore the canvas to its default view but you need to continually re-enable to continue to drill). To restore the canvas, there is a particular area you have to click on within the visualization for this to work. Specifically, you must click on the sides or the bottom corners of the visualization, but this is not straight-forward. The business need is for there to be a more intuitive way to do this.
Enhancement Request / Service Request: There was a bug raised by an Oracle support engineer: "Bug 33797769 - WHEN USING CANVAS FILTER SELECTION IN DV THE DESELECTION DOES NOT RETURN TO DEFAULT"

This pays also when using data action in DV (which navigates you to other canvas with filter conditions applied)- there should be similar option as in "classical" UI (analytics), which allows you to easily return to previous "state" using either bredcrumbs or Back functionality within analytics UI. This is missing in DV for navigation actions.

Yes, the back functionality would very much help in the DV navigations.

Yes, the breadcrumbs-like functionality should be added. It was the best option while using drill functionality.

Agreed that the current way of resetting filters that get applied when using other visuals as filters isn't very intuitive to our users. They love that they can click a visual to filter the entire canvas but they struggle to reset the canvas back to its default settings afterwards, especially if multiple filters from multiple visuals are being applied.
Clicking the border/white space around the visual that the filter is applied from can be difficult depending on the visualization type and most users aren't even aware that you can do it. Having either a filter 'Reset' button or perhaps breadcrumbs as others have mentioned would help them navigate and interact with the canvases much easier.

Yes, a reset to "canvas defaults" button is something that's sorely missing and has been asked for a number of times from our report users. This is somewhat basic functionality that should just be put next to the undo/redo buttons. If people have clicked through a number of times, it's a little confusing that they have to keep undoing a number of times (clicking in white space to undo when a viz is used as a filter is also sometimes challenging to "find the white space").
We have this capability with Answers prompts. I'm really not a fan of telling people that they have to undo a bunch or reload the page (especially when they're used to having a button in Answers and other BI tools). This would be a pretty simple usability improvement.
@Benjamin Arnulf-Oracle FYI. would be great to see this added to the roadmap

@Greg Faris I voted for it. Please ensure to get the maximum votes from friends and co-workers.
I checked internally and it's now planned.

It'll be a great feature to have. Upvoted.

With Use as Filter:
- selecting a mark on the viz (enabled for use as filter) will pass on the selected context as a (viz) filter to other visualization on the canvas
- de-selecting the mark will remove the filter. You just have to click on any white area on the viz (no specific place in particular).
I have attached a video showing the capability.
I acknowledge the enhancement ask in this idea request, especially when navigating using Drill / Data Actions. Breadcrumbs are on the backlog, we need more votes to help increase the priority of this enhancement ask.
