Assignment logic in data store: HcmTopModelAnalyticsGlobalAM.PersonAM.GlobalPersonPVO?

Question

We have an employee that has two assignments. The assignment fields that are populated in GlobalPersonPVO pertain to the 'old' assignment. I can't figure what the logic is to determine which assignment is used in GlobalPersonPVO since that data store has 1 record per employee.
