Force Reset of Filter Personalizations
Synopsis: Add a "Force Personalization Reset" button which will clear end user personalization on a dashboard and explicitly notify users via a popup that their filters have been cleared.
The default message could be something along the lines of "An administrator has reset all filters on this dashboard back to default values."

The workbook header bar displays a reset visualization button allowing users to clear personalized filter values to author curated defaults. Are you referring to some other functionality?
Thanks

I believe the ask is for the workbook author to reset all consumer personalization for the workbook.
@User_8URXV is that the case?

@Gabby Rubin-Oracle yes, correct. I don't want to disable a downstream users ability to save customizations however I do want to be able to reset them periodically.

We have a system (console) setting to turn off personalization for the instance (with OAC March 2024 update) and a Workbook level setting (in Present) to turn off personalization for the workbook. Turning off personalization will purge the personalized artifacts.
If the author of the workbook wants to reset the user personalization on a workbook, they can turn off the filter & parameter personalization in Present, save the workbook. This would purge all personalized artifacts for the workbook. And turn on Personalization. This will purge the user personalized filters and 'reset' to author defaults.
Would this work for your scenario?

I think an example scenario may help:
I, as an author, published a dashboard in Q1 that reports on customer bookings across a variety of industries. Consumers of the dashboard have made some personalized filter selections to focus on the particular industries they care about.For Q2, the industry list has been updated which now renders previously saved personalization's incorrect (manufacturing has been broken out into low complexity manufacturing and high complexity manufacturing — this would render a previously personalized filter of manufacturing obsolete since it no longer exists).
What I would like to do then is reset those saved personalization's to the defaults that I have created (in my case, no filters) and notify users of the change. What this would do is clear all their personalization's and force them to go back in and re-personalize their views.
In this scenario, are you saying that I can disable personalization's via the present mode, save it, then re-enable personalization's and then all consumers personalization's will be reset to dashboard defaults? Or will they just re-enable with the personalization's that were around before I disabled them in the first place?
(and again, being able to notify the user that personalization's have been purged so they'll go need to reset them would be ideal).1 -
Yes, except that users will not be notified when author disables/enables personalization on the workbook. We do not have a user (push) notification experience in the product yet. Users will see that the personalization icon in the header bar is in a disabled state.

Understood thank you.
