Export OAC DV Canvas to Excel
In Classic, you can export an analysis, dashboard page, or entire dashboard to Excel. While, the need to export multiple dashboard pages are not a high priority for our company at this time, we do have the need to export a dashboard page. DV does not allow users to export an entire canvas to Excel. Also, if you have an canvas embedded in a Classic dashboard page, the canvas will not export to Excel. This question was bought up to the Oracle Analytics PM team in March at the AnDOUC Summit, and was told DV would never have the Export functions that Classic has. The question is are any additional exporting capabilities going into DV?

In the Banco de la República, the central bank of Colombia, we need to export all the elements on the canvas to clarify and provide context for the data published to the general public. 1-Nov-2023.

Hi,
This is a good feature to have the entire canvas objects exported in excel (formatted data) , as we have all the users from business side expecting this option.
Though we understood this is not a tool to extract data, we need this feature for business users reporting need and good to have like classic version of exporting all objects (current dashboard page or Entire dashboard) to excel or CSV atleast in proper formats.

It is true that we do not currently plan to offer the conversion of a canvas-based dashboard to live Excel visualizations. It is not widely used in Classic, and the use case is not completely clear. If possible, I would appreciate more details on how it is being used and why.

Thanks for your response and I understand the need to prioritize enhancements based on demand.
With that said, Exporting to Excel is of a need although we do have several people who request to export to Excel, It is mostly for data, we could probably give them one visualization (have to research that more). We do have the need to able to export a canvas to a PDF. Is there a way to do that or in the plans? Our field like to have reports received via email as they are rarely in the office and can be a pain to VPN while on a worksite. They can quickly look at the information if it is sent via PDF.
Hope this helps and thanks for your support!

Data export is fine, we already have it for Pivot and Tables. We do not do other charts data exports because the amount of data to power a viz is usually small, but if there is a need for data export of various charts, it is something we can consider.
We already have an export of Canvas as a PDF, both interactive and scheduled (via email).
We are not currently looking to invest in live visualizations export into Excel (similar to what Classic can do using Smart View) or image extraction into Excel. It is not just a question of priority; it is a question of what the use case that we are trying to solve is.

"We already have an export of Canvas as a PDF, both interactive and scheduled (via email)." This would fit out main need. Sorry, I didn't easily how to do that see it before responding, but thanks for responding so quickly.

Hi @Gabby Rubin-Oracle - Would like to hear is that exporting multiple canvas views in a workbook to excel is possible. Understand that the graph/chart views export to excel is not possible at the moment, as our users want the entire or multiple canvas in a formatted excel export for easy and quick reviews sharing them to other users.
Excel format actually fix or works better for date formats field which retain the formats hence request is here any possibility of exporting multiple canvas together via excel with an option shown in attachment from DV side or from classic (with DV views exposed as dashboard objects) using below options.
User community using the excel export for analyzing data and doing some analysis for their need, though we have a limitation of extending the access to reporting objects. Please let us know will exporting to excel format for multiple DV canvas in a workbook will be considered in future versions?
Thanks,
Senthil

Currently, data exports export a specific viz, not a canvas, so before we can discuss multiple canvases, we need to discuss the scenario for a full single canvas. I know that some customers have workbooks where all canvases have a single pivot table, but when we are building the export capability, we also need to decide what to do if the canvas has more than one viz on it.
We looked at this use case, allowing Canvas export when there is only one table on it. However, the issue is that when it fails, it will not be a great experience. For example, you ask to export a full workbook, but suddenly, one of the canvases does not get exported because someone created more than one viz on one of the canvases.
I believe that there is an Idea requesting it; if not, feel free to open one. For this specific idea, based on @Cathye_Pendley comment, I'll mark it as delivered, and we can discuss other use cases within the other idea.
