Excel template unable to produce output in Excel 97-2003 style

Question

we have BIP report where we are using Excel template due nature of the requirement. Here we are facing an issue like with this template where output formats supports limited to (.xls,XML,CSV) with this .xls we have limitation like columns are limited to 256 and 65K rows supported . But client is looking for Does oracle supports to upload Excel template with extension (.xlsx) which will accommodate more than .xls

There is an existing idea for same. Please evaluate and upvote the idea:

BIP Reports built on Excel Template currently doesn't support Report Output Format Option as xlsx — Oracle Analytics
