Hello All, We are currently in the process of upgrading our EPM from version 2.14 to 2.15, and OAS from version 5.9 to 7.6. We have successfully upgraded both applications, but we are facing various challenges regarding the integration of Essbase 21c. I have searched through the Oracle library and support documents, but I have not found any comprehensive resources that outline how to integrate OAS 7.6 with Essbase 21c. I have several questions that I hope to clarify: * Are there any changes to the RPD features in the OAS 7.6 version? * During our previous upgrade from OBIEE to OAS 5.9, we simply updated the Essbase connection information and were able to successfully connect to Essbase. Is there any specific configuration step that I might be missing to integrate the online RPD connection of OAS with Essbase 21c? * I have not found a new option for the 'Database Type' in the Oracle Analytics Client tools for Essbase 21c. (Please see the attached screenshot of the new BI Administration Tool.) Has anyone else experienced integration issues between these two products in the new versions? I have searched through the Oracle library and support documents, but I have not found any comprehensive resources that outline how to integrate OAS 7.6 with Essbase 21c. I have several questions that I hope to clarify:

If you login to OAS DV and create a new Data>Connection to the same essbase instance and try to create datasets based of this connection, are you able to see the objects listed and create workbook to view this data?

This will help to isolate if this issue is specific to Admintool or is also seen in DV.

Hi,

As far as I know, nothing really changed for Essbase. It's a while I didn't see huge changes for that (maybe something will come in the future when Essbase will be supported by the Semantic Modeler, but even then I expect it more to support what already exists without changing things in the RPD itself).

If you open your old RPD in the new admin tool and save it, it will be "upgraded". Don't expect a new connection for Essbase 21c: if you don't see it, just keep the one you were using in your previous OAS.

Did you just try running it directly after you upgraded your OAS? Didn't it work? What kind of error are you seeing?

Concur, no changes.

The latest Model Administration client ("admin tool") is provided via a patch.

What is the complete version of Essbase 21c?
There were some issues with older OAS; wherein, Essbase needed to be patched to Essbase 21.5.0.0 or higher.

Thank you for reply.

We are able to connect to Essbase host but whenever we tried to import metadata its getting failed with "Essbase Error 1042006: Network Error [10060]…" As mentioned below screen shot. And we have already opened port 1423 from Client server (And OAS server too) to Essbase server for communication.

Do we need to open any other port for Essbase 21c (From OAS server to Essbase 21c server)? As I can see few more port mentioned in new Essbase 21c configuration document (https://docs.oracle.com/en/applications/enterprise-performance-management/11.2/hitju/essbase_ports_336.html)

Thank you, everyone, for your input and responses.

We have identified an issue: we need to open a new ESSSVR port range (31768–32768) to allow communication from the OAS server to the Essbase server. Once this is done, we will be able to connect the Essbase Data Source from the RPD to Essbase 21c successfully.
