Report 2x - 5xing values when using the hierarchical tiers

I'm having issues trying to get the right data when using the object 'Level 22 Value' in Natural Account Segment under the General Ledger - Transactional Balances Real Time subject area. If I use the Natural Account Segment - Value object, the amounts DO NOT get duplicated, but Natural Account Segment - Level 22 Value DOES duplicate. We're using the hierarchical tiers in our admin page, so this seems to be where the issue stems from in my opinion, but I'm not entirely sure how I would go about fixing it. Below is an example of one of our accounts having the wrong data, and I can break it down row by row.

  1. The Journal data for accounting period 2021-07 for the Green Account, debits on the left, credits on the right.
  2. When doing debits - credits, we get the net total, which comes to the amount shown in the calculator
  3. Now if we duplicate row 2, we see it's this value
  4. Take the value from row 3, and we see that the OTBI report is duplicating data.

This problem also persists even when I throw the distinct value on the advanced SQL portion. This issue is remedied by just using Natural Account Segment - Value, however I can't use the hierarchy accounts at that point, which makes this report useless.

My question is - How do I go about getting the correct functional activity for this journal when using the account hierarchies?

  • Hi Ronald, to better serve you, I have moved your post to the Reporting and Analytics for ERP forum since its specific to financial subject areas/use cases. Thank you.

    Hi,

Do you have multiple/alternate hierarchies (or even base and current) in account dimension?

If yes, try adding a filter for the "tree filter" under natural account. (or tree filter for dimensions in layout/etc)

    Hope this helps.
