What role should be given to end users?

Is it necessary for end users to only be able to view the latest version of the report, without being able to edit or view the dashboards?
To prevent them from editing the reports

Hi @Jessica Encarnacion -Oracle,
Welcome to the Oracle Analytics Community.
If your end user is purely a consumer of the report, you can assign them the 'Bi Consumer' role which will be having Read Only Access to the report.
But if some of your users are developing or modifying the reports then you can give them the 'BI Author' role.
Please find below a quick table which outlines all the Roles.
Business Intelligence Role
Description
BI Consumer Role
Runs Business Intelligence reports.
BI Author Role
Creates and edits reports.
BI Administrator Role
Performs administrative tasks such as creating and editing dashboards and modifying security permissions for reports, folders, and so on.
BI Publisher Data Model Developer Role
Creates and edits Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher data models.
You can get more details in the following document.
Hope this help.
Thank you.

Yes, it is absolutely possible.
Please review the below KM note:
How To Restrict Access To Custom and Other Folders in Reports and Analytics As All Users Have BI Consumer Role (Doc ID 2764614.1)

Hi Jessica,
Most of the seeded roles have BI Consumer which allows them to only view the reports. If the users are having any additional access, then you need to customize the roles to remove the additional BI roles like BIAdmin, BIAuthor from those roles.
From the security console, you can do a check to find all the roles inheriting BIAdmin/BIAuthor roles and then customize to restrict the access.
Thanks.
