Issues when trying to use a Datamodel in different workbooks with different subject areas

When trying to use a Datamodel in different workbooks with different subject areas, an existing join is being removed. A warning appears - There is an existing match that will be removed if you proceed, which will break any workbooks using it. Do you want to proceed? As a workaround, I am duplicating the datamodel and using it. But this is not sustainable in long run, as any changes to be made to the datamodel must be made in all the duplicates. Is this a bug or this is the way the product works? Ideally datamodels must be reusable, right? Please share any insights on this issue. Thank You.

No, we are not copying and pasting. We are just reusing a data model in multiple workbooks to extend a dimension. Looks like that's the behavior. I recently came across an Oracle support article which is also suggesting the workaround we are using. i.e., duplicating the data models to use with different workbooks/different subject areas.
