Since our company went fully live with Redwood, we have seen performance degrade when running reports. We are having numerous users report issues with reports timing out, even when scheduled.
I've been working on the OAC DV and the percentages calculation is a challenge. When I select Grand Total for the percentages I get two options
When I select " value" it doesn't calc the percentage based on the Grand Total.
I'm unable to figure out how the % values and % of Row values is getting calculated, because the value changes with every selection.
Thank you
From an FDI perspective:
Connectivity will always be my priority as data is the centre of everything in FDI. There have been some real leaps forward in this space over the last 18 months, long may that trend continue! More connectors! (Sharepoint please!)
Data Visualisation and Experience would be second, this too has seen some significant improvements over the last 18 months with some really awesome features such as saved states and new vis types making the user experience much slicker.
AI and Gen AI would be third - mostly because I am still not 100% sure on how to best use this in the data visualisation space. I'm sure that will come in time.
There are some Admin improvements that I think would be great, mostly around what permissions application roles provide in FDI. A lot of the OAC admin privileges are currently only possible with service admin application role. e.g. setting up new agents and scheduling reports. Would be better if there was an application role for this that didn't give the user "God Mode" at the same time.
Finally, Modelling and Preparation. I really, really, like the Sandbox framework in FDI, it is such a big improvement compared to Branch - as it's more flexible and it feels more logical too in terms of how things are set up.
I second Rob's thoughts here:
"A lot of the OAC admin privileges are currently only possible with service admin application role. e.g. setting up new agents and scheduling reports. Would be better if there was an application role for this that didn't give the user "God Mode" at the same time."
I would go with:
Data Visualization & Experience
But, without wide spectrum of connectivity and cover all the Technologies in this field. this option will be useless.
So, I had to go with Connectivity.
Introduce parameterized datasets in Data Modelling & Preparation to improve flexibility.
This will minimize manual changes and make datasets reusable across different scenarios.
The admin should be able to assign other users with the dataset rather than moving it to the shared folders and then sharing it with the users. Just like SharePoint, adding the email ad giving privileges should be an option. The privileges can be 1. View the data but cannot edit or create Dashboard 2. View the data and create Dashboard but cannot edit. 3. View the data and can edit the data but cannot delete the dataset
Our implementation is for Fusion and Utility Billing. As the data architect, I hoped to build one enterprise data warehouse. Seems I have to buy FDI and EWDI and still I will have to build pipelines to bring the data together in one ADW. I would like to see the EWDI pipelines to be configurable and used from FDI and not require two environments.
I absolutely agree Jesse Drosdick, The simple fact is that operating in highly decentralized environments, where multiple tools provide nearly identical functionality, inevitably complicates our ecosystem and poses a major challenge to the Enterprise Architecture and Data teams.
While I've voted for Data Visualization & Experience (main priority), if given a second option/vote I'd also vote for AI & GenAI (secondary)
