Excluding Adjustment Period from the forecasting periods
We have a financial report where we are using standard forecasting feature to forecast the next 5 periods. The calendar runs from Jan (period 1) to Dec (Period 12) and there is an Adjustment Period (period 13). Having adjustment period 13 very common in the financial setup.
When we are using the forecast functionality it is considering period 13 as a period in forecasted periods whereas we would like it to be excluded. Is there any way to do it? Do we need a custom formula-based forecast rather than using the standard functionality? Being in December 2025 we expect the five periods be Dec-25, Jan-26, Feb-26, Mar-26 & Apr-26 or Jann-26 to May-26 if in case current month gets excluded from forecasting.
Appreciate any feedback!

Hello @mgoswami,
I think you would need to use an offset value in an AGO function.
For example, AGO("Amount","Fiscal Period",12)
I see in a KM article where AGO("Amount","Fiscal Year",1) was also suggested.
Although we filter out the adjustment periods in the join between fact and time dim, the adjustment periods do exist in the backend time dim table. As a result when using the AGO function, the BI server takes into account these adjustment periods. Depends on the setup, the total number of periods in one fiscal year may not be 12 or 13 in your case.
Hope that gives you a lead.
Regards,
John
