Currently, Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI) Content Bundles do not recognise Datasets as migratable objects. To move a custom Dataset from Dev to Prod, developers are forced into a manual, error-prone workaround:

  1. Create a "Dummy Workbook" in the source.
  2. Export the Workbook as a DV Archive (.dva) file.
  3. Export and then Import that .dva into the target environment.
  4. Delete the "Dummy" artifacts after the Dataset is successfully unpacked.

This feels like a bug or it is intentional by design. I'm not quite sure! The content bundle ensures the workbook is placed in the correct catalogue folder structure from Dev to Prod. The bundles imports are versioned.

Why not have a option to include datasets, data files, permissions and connection as you do with DVA file Workbook export. This will make the content bundle more user friendly and reducing deployment failures.

Ensuring the integrity of the Workbook is in tact with all joins and related, dependent objects are deployed in a single Bundle deployment.

This would significantly simplify deployments for complex workbooks.

For a Data Config bundle, you can include datasets by selecting the applicable modules, augmentations, custom data configurations, and pipeline settings using the corresponding toggles and Select buttons create-bundle. Note that only the deployed data augmentations or configurations are included in a data configuration bundle.
