On selecting CATALOG, i get the below error pop-up...this happens only for one specific user...
Could you help me fix this issue..i want to do this without re-creating the user....
I am using obiee 11.1.1.6.6, FF 49.0.2, IE 9
If I remember correctly, this error is related to security settings. Check if this user has at least Traverse rights on every folder in the report path: /shared, Finance Division, Temp folder and so on.
And consider upgrading to a newer version. 11.1.1.6 got the last patch two or three years ago.
this user accesses a folder in the "Shared Folder" and the permission given to this user is Open (traverse,read)
this happens to only one user, which is why i am sceptical in updating to the version 11.1.1.6.7
If the user has an access to /shared, that does not mean automatically that he has the same rights on every underlying folder. Just check every folder in the path to the report.
And if I right, this error been corrected in 11.1.1.7.something.
I know Andrew, i have checked each and every item inside that folder and all had the same access as Open (Read, Traverse)
I will probably try to upgrade to 11.1.1.6.7 this weekend....

I found the bug I was talking about: Bug 14113844 : INVALID JSON PAYLOAD. If you face it, upgrading to 11.1.1.6.7 will not help you, this bug was fixed in 11.1.1.7.
And because you say that the user has rights and that doesn't help, there is a strong possibility, that the problem is something else.
@Andrew Fomin. has nailed it in terms of the issue you face. But, I just wanted to point out, echoing what Andrew said -- 11.1.1.6 is OLD. It's out of support, it's got several published CVE vulnerabilities, it's going to work with fewer and fewer platforms (OS/browsers) as they modernise. 11.1.1.7 is also heading out of support ... you want to be planning to move to 11.1.1.9 (if not 12c) *now*.
