Baseline Validation Tool 11g

Hello,
I have some questions regarding the BVT.
1) Can you use the tool to compare between 2 11g environments instead of between 2 12c or between an 11g and 12c environment?
2) Do you need a specific licence to use the tool. eg.: Can it be used if you don't have a 12c licence but only a 11g licence?
Thanks,
Regards

It would depend on what exactly are you looking to compare. Do you just want to compare objects within a schema or the whole database? Or do just want to compare the differences between Oracle 11g/12c databases? Be more specific. I've done schema level compare using sql developer or TOAD before.

I want to use the tool to make the same comparison between two environments as one would when upgrading from 11g to 12c. But instead in my case it is between two 11g environments.

What specific things do you want to compare in both environment?

Yes, you can.

Good question. Probably one for your Oracle account manager. It's part of the 12c client tool download, so maybe you do need a 12c licence - but check with Oracle.

@Gbenga Ajakaye BVT is an OBIEE tool. You can read more about it here: https://docs.oracle.com/middleware/1221/core/BIMIG/GUID-7E0C3534-3283-418F-912D-F4F39880543D.htm#BIMIG-GUID-7E0C3534-3283-418F-912D-F4F39880543D

There's no reason as far as I'm aware why BVT won't work in your scenario. Be aware that you'll be using the BVT to carry out catalog, UI, reports, logical query and dashboard tests

If you want closer to an answer, ask a more specific question and we'll try and help (unless it's about licensing, in which case ask Oracle
)

Yeah, I meant about licensing. My first question was answered
