What do your exportserviceinstance log files tell you? Any clues in them? The log files are typically located here: FMW HOME\user_projects\domains\bi\bilogs\service_instances

You could consider using BAR files to move rpd, catalog & application roles. To retain connection pools and rpd variables which tend to vary by environment, you can use the datamodel.cmd/sh utility to export/import these. You can in theory, automate this process.

That sounds very strange as that has to be set somehow. Does anyone else have access to edit the analyses on these dashboards?

Which presentation services permissions does the user have?

Not quite but Save Column As functionality has been available since 11.1.1.9 - This allows you to create a column formula and save it to your catalog and therefore making it available to other dashboards/analyses etc. https://www.rittmanmead.com/blog/2016/01/my-favorite-obiee-12c-feature-that-almost-no-one-is-talking-about/
