Hi Gianni What do you mean by "docker container"? Are you saying you did a complete uninstall/removal of JUST the RCU schemas? Or do you mean that you totally uninstalled EVERYTHING and re-instaled everything all over again? Ah my mistake I must have totally missed that forum, I will keep that in mind to post in the other…

Thanks a lot Gianni After you mentioned entropy and the /dev/random and /dev/urandom, I do recall seeing those terms while browsing through the error logs. There was mention of a "lack of entropy" in my error logs I actually took a bit of a short cut and searched in the forums and came across this link OBIEE 12c…

The time between the first previous item to the error is more then 5 minutes later. It seems when it gets to the Essbase step it "freezes", but I can still see folders being created so I just left it. After about half an hour then I hit the error. Can you elaborate on the java random vs urandom please?

I did create the RCU ahead of time I checked and double checked that the JDBC connection string is right, I was thinking that maybe that was the issue too, but I am sure I entered in the right connection string

So I did some more digging around and I was able to find some more log files located under another totally different folder /u01/app/oraInventory/logs/configYYYY-MM-DD There are about 6 files in here and I found the last file is wlst_essbase.log It looks like the log files that are generated are in order of what was being…

So I discovered something else with the RCU tool..... After my DBA granted me the required privileges to even be able to "Prepare the scripts" the scripts have their own issues. There were two scripts generated 1) script_systemLoad.sql 2) script_postDataLoad.sql A few of the issues my DBA and I were able to resolve but the…

Trust me, I also did a snort of half disbelief/half are you kidding me Quite tempting to slap the person on the back of the head......but I kept it professional So in our scenario, would it be as simple 1) Shutting down all the services 2) Take our most recent .tar back up file, and unzip it over the home directory? This…

Either this is a bug - or the error message in this really needs to be updated with more details that you need to have privileges granted BEFORE you can run ANY option in the RCU Thanks to @Gbenga Ajakaye for his notes to add these grants * grant select_catalog_role to user; * grant select any dictionary to user; * grant…

Gianni - Thanks for the feedback When running the RCU I actually tried ALL of the alternatives (System load, product load etc) and ALL of them gave me the same error message saying that I need SYSDBA/DBA privileges. Which was why I was complaining in the first place, I tried to generate the scripts for the DBA to run but…

Much thanks for this! I totally understand as well why they are hesitant as well - But that Oracle error message really doesnt help when it says specifically I need SYSDBA/DBA privileges EVEN on a product load Let me check with them about granting my user these privileges

I finally found an answer here Understanding Users and Roles A lot of googling around and found the above link Theres basically two places to make a change. I am on active directory - and was having issues with end users and their login ID being case sensitive. To turn off, or to make it case insensitive you can follow the…

I am pretty sure there is something funny going on when we have a user log in using non lower case user id's So if someone with the login of charles Typed in ChArLeS - OBIEE seems to not recognize this and can not map them to the security groups we put them into. Is there anyway I can enforce all lower case to be POST from…
-
The user does have access to the OBIEE home page, or at least the security group that we put them in maps to it. I checked Administration -> Manage Privileges -> Home and Header -> "Access Home Page" has the BI Consumer Role mapped to it. When the user is able to successfully log in at work, I checked their [My…

Just refreshing this thread as I never got a reply Can anyone confirm, or possibly provide a more layman document on how to perform back ups in OBIEE 12c? Apologies if this is a bit of a low level question, Im not an admin by trade sadly

*smacks forehead* Thanks for pointing out the cache Christian When I ran the report/query in Answers I had gone into [Administration -> Manage Sessions] and clicked on "Cancel Running Requests" and "Close All Cursors". I then re-ran the report/query and noticed I was only getting the logical query. At the end of the log it…

That does help provide a lot of context - and yes you are correct I do have a long way to go to understanding all of this I do have a question that I am trying to figure out I was told to modify our RPD and to remove some columns that are "not used". One column was the HOME_FACULTY_KEY. I went into our RPD in the BMM and…

Argh - no back up that I am aware of. Actually now that you mentioned that, how would one create a back up? I can try searching around to see what we may have, not sure if its a single file of some sort (fingers crossed) ?

Im pretty sure its a botched/corrupted one as when I asked around the developer mentioned "oh yah I think I saw something like that" ..... I locked the config and dropped the server from the WLS but I still see it listed in OEM and shows the server is down? I cant seem to delete it =/
