Eloqua fieldmerge to bring current year in assets

Is there any option or fieldmerge by which we can print the current year in emails/LPs? We maintain a lot of footers across various instances which contains copyright year. This need to be changed every year.

I said shared content. But if you are using the out-of the box footer module you cannot use shared content. For footer we don't use the module. If you use the module you can well use field merge. In this case doesn't make sense to use a contact field merge? It means for each new contact you need to add the date in the field and update it every year. To add it automatically you could use a contact program on contact creation an an update rule. Each year use a program with update rule to update the date.
