Trying to add a value for "this Month" into report

I am trying to set up a report to run at the end of each month that includes only information for the previous month.  I want it to run automatically, so would like to set it up without prompts, but instead set a standard value for activity that has occurred within the past month.  Any suggestions or ideas?
