Most Advance Candidate Req Report

I am seeking to capture on a Open Requsition report the Most Advance CSW status associated per req.  If you have done this at your company I would inerested in how you configured the report to capture this data.  Currently I am using the App. Sequence ID to get the max sequence.  However, sometimes there are instances where their are mutiple candidates in the same step status and sequence - how can I determine which one is more advance than the other?  Help if you can.  Thanks in advance.
