Can you deactivate Source Types?

First - It appears you can only change the display name of the 21 different source types that are provided. We are looking at reducing the 21 visable source types down to 12, however it does not appear that we can deactivate the remaining 9. Does anyone have a workaround for this?

Second - Can you move specific sources from one souce type to another or do you have to deactivate the source and re-create it under the new source type?
