Report on certain requisition statuses as of a previous point in time

Good morning.  Can anyone share how I could create a report to capture requisitions in a certain status (i.e. open) during a certain period of time in the past?  For instance, I have to report on how many and which requisitions were open in January.  I can't just go by open date because I want to capture any that were opened prior to January but still active in January.  Thank you for your help.
