Flagging a specific previous employer

I am wondering if anyone has suggestions as to how we can flag an applicant who lists a specific previous employer on their applicant record.  We have non-compete clauses with several other companies and are restricted from hiring current and sometimes previous employees.  As of now we have no way to quickly identify those candidates and am wondering if there is a way to do this, outside of OBI.
