Learning plans and SCO course versioning

Can a Learning Plan retain its completion mapping IF you change out the content of a SCO

Someone floated this question by me and I thought it was best to ask. We have had lots of success with a very direct workflow for building content - all directly in the LC it is reported in (yes, nay sayers....totally doable). That said we also haven't explored the checki-in and check-out workflow OR working a little more tightly with the resource manager.

So we build a SCO. Import. Clean it up and put it into a Learning Plan to push to targeted audiences.
