What are the downstream impacts of editing an existing CSW?

Hi,

We're going to be editing our current CSW and while the last time we did this we created a new CSW altogether, this time we're thinking about just adding 2 new steps to our existing CSW.  Has anyone else done this, and if so where there any negative downstream impacts you experienced?  I'm thinking specifically about loss of analytics accuracy in terms of time-in-step, has this caused problems for anyone?
