SQL Expression for a specific month and day with a year of current year - 1

Hi - 

I need to add a filter to an OTBI report that is hire date greater than 10/1 of the prior year.  I would like to make the year dynamic based on the year of the current date so that the report clause does not have to be adjusted annually for our compensation review cycle.  How do I concatenate a variable year, YEAR(CURRENT_DATE)-1 to a static date '10/01'?
