Disabling Notifications for Specific User

Looking for a way to prevent all notifications from going to a specific user

We have the company founder at the top of the hierarchy, but they do not need to receive HCM notifications nor approval requests.  Is there a way to disable them from getting notifications and workflow without just removing their email from their account?  There may be times where they need to do workflow approvals, but at this time we are bypassing them.  In compensation we created alternate approval rules so that they didn't have to approve anything, but we want to ensure that they don't get any notifications at this time.
