Documents of Record - can you secure by document type and/or by role?

Can you only show some douments to some roles ? Or all douments to some roles?

We have a requirement to only show certain documents to particular roles.

1. Can you security All documents of records by role - Pretty sure this is yes, where you remove the link for all roles other then HR roles, for example.  Assuming this would be done with customizations on the page.

2.  Can you security SOME documents of records, by document type?  For example, allow only HR roles to see document type TAX but Line Managers can't see it.  Pretty sure the answer is no.  If you CAN do it, how?
