How to handle short term relocations in Fusion

We have employees traveling to onsite on short term. For such cases we process payroll in new country. We were using global temporary transfer for such employees and make the assignment in home country as secondary assignment and put assignment status as suspended. Then we add the new assignment as primary. When they return we were adding return from global temporary transfer to make the secondary assignment back to primary.But the assignment flag in the secondary assignment is not changing to primary automatically and we are not able to change it manually also and its impacting  the absence and payroll.
