We have a requirement like, in requisition each lines will have different category and different line amount, based on category and line amount approval should be triggered to different apporvers. In EBS, we have achieved through position hierarchy setups,in approval groups, item category range and amount limit combination which works fine, EBS  approval engine follows the position hierarchy, based on the amount limit assigned to the position.

For Example : Position Hierarchy  --- Requester --> Approver A (100 USD Limit) ----> Approver B ( 1000USD Limit)

Approval Group :  Approver A's Position -  Category range X to Y   - Amount Limit 100 USD
