Learning Community Categories

Does anybody know what the new Learning Community categories are used for? Since 20B when you create a community as L&D you now have to choose between the following categories:

• Category Community
• Topic Community
• Official Community

When you create them they all look the same, so it looks like they only seem to be filters for whatever reason. Maybe to give L&D some more options as when you search for communities in the admin area you also have a community type filter that also includes Self-Service Community.

Are these categories really just filters or will they have any other purpose in the future? Just checking as we don't want to choose the wrong category now as there is no way to change it once the community is created.
