Can you allocate individual tasks or is it just checklists via Person Management?

Is it possible to allocate an individual task from the task library or does it need to be done as part of a checklist

When navigating to person management and selecting the option to "allocate checklists" the only way I can see to assign a single task is to select the checklist which contains the task I wish to assign, then edit the checklist to delete all tasks I don't want to assign. We have some 'one off' tasks that sit independent from checklists so this is an issue for us.

Is there an easy navigation to allocate a single task from the task library to a user (in this case a pending worker)?
