20D - Created a new custom role but can't see Document Records

I recently created a custom security role that is intended to allow access to several admin functions including being able to view document records under My Client Groups. We have several fake employees set up in the test system to use when testing these types of changes.   When I assign the role to a test employee and log into their profile, document records is not visible. I've added every privilege I could find that could possibly grant access to document records. I've also set up the security profile and made sure there is a document type profile configured as well.
