Change Rehire to Hire?

Hello,

We have an employee who was hired and termed on the same day (we expected them to start but they didn't for whatever reason).  We've now gone ahead and hired them again but the business teams would like this most recent activity to be considered a hire rather than a rehire.  The system is only allowing us to select 'Rehire' as the action.  Is there any way to get around this?
