Hiring Manager retires prior to offer

We have a hiring manager who retired during the search process. When creating the offer for the selected candidate, we received the error: "Attribute ManagerId in AssignmentSupervisorDEO is required."

We have updated the hiring manager on the job requisition, but it is not flowing through to the job offer. We have attempted to update the hiring manager on the offer but receive the above error.

Any thoughts on how to change the hiring manager after the offer as been started?
