Change person start date to earlier than original date

Hello, We need to correct the person start date for an employee that started earlier than previously expected. We canceled the work relationship but we receive the following error when trying to create a new work relationship with the earlier start date 'the objective person legislative information can’t start before the person start date’.

How can we maintain the person number but add a new work relationship with a date earlier than the original person start date?

Example:

Original Start date: June 1st

New earlier start date: May 26th
