Ubuntu GPU Image Problem After Kernel Upgrade

edited Apr 15, 2022 6:46AM in Linux

An Ubuntu GPU instance fails to load its Nvidia GPU drivers upon being rebooted after a kernel upgrade, when the following command was run prior to the reboot:

# apt-get install linux-image-5.4.0-1052-oracle

During the server's reboot the nvidia-persistenced service failed to load and checking the status of this service returned the following error messages:

# systemctl status nvidia-persistenced

● nvidia-persistenced.service - NVIDIA Persistence Daemon

Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/nvidia-persistenced.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled)

Drop-In: /etc/systemd/system/nvidia-persistenced.service.d

└─override.conf

Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Thu 2021-12-02 15:32:17 KST; 3h 44min ago

The server's logs also show the following errors:

Howdy, Stranger!
